Senators urged to expand hate crimes legislation

More than 77,000 hate crime incidents were reported by the FBI between 1998 and 2007.

Thats nearly one hate crime for every hour of every day over the span of a decade.

In light of such statistics, U.S Attorney General Eric Holder said that the influence of ‘hate crimes bills’ was one of his “highest personal priorities … is to do everything I can to ensure this critical legislation finally becomes law.”

As this current attempt to bring forth an understanding of those that seek to deny the humanity that we all share, regardless of the color of our skin, the God to whom we pray or the person who we choose to love, join me to bring this attention to the legislators of the state of Florida.

Homeless Hate Crime Laws and Actions.

On May 7, 2009 Maryland became the first state to announce Hate Crimes against the homeless a law.

From 1999-2007, there have been 774 documented acts of violence committed against homeless individuals in the United States.

A fact that we as a nation must understand is that homeless people have rights just as any other citizen of this nation. As we come to face this current financial crisis that is still leaving thousand of americans homeless, we are faced to come to terms with Homeless Hate Crimes laws.
